Stone Hut to s of Blyth, SA
108.52 km (67.3 mi)

Dew everywhere, then again, I was camped near a field of tall grass. Packed up and headed out. Passed though the town of Laura, looked like a nice little place but I wanted to go a bit farther. Ended up stopping in Gladstone for breakfast. Cooked up some food and read the newspaper. An older guy in his 70's came over and sat own at the picnic table I was at. We talked for a good half hour. He was "seventy fucking four" years old and had been married for "fourty-six fucking" years. We had a mutual disintrest in Cockatoo birds...noisy buggers. There had been a flock of Cockatoos in a tree, hundreds of them squacking away. The train came and all the birds took off. They kept trying to swoop back to their tree but the train was still going by.

Went and checked my email for the amazing low price of AUD$free. Seems that South Australia is pro-internet and are making it free at community facilities. Did the email routine. Ended up not leave Gladstone till about 2pm. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. Didn't really know where I was headed for tonight, just wanted to chop off enough so I don't have a long ride into Adelaide tomorrow. At one point way after sunset I was riding on this gravel road. I could hear a herd of cows running beside me (on the other side of a fence), but I couldn't see them. I popped one of the headlights of my bike an shined it over in their direction. All I could see was a bunch of hovering blue eyes in the distance.

Passed through the town of Blyth. Nothing was open so I continued on in the darkness. Couldn't really find a place to camp since it is all farmland aroun here. At one point the road made a curve. Thanks to square property boundries there was a bit of trees near the corner in the road. I'm camped between the fence and the road. Cars have passed by in both directions now and it doesn't look like I can be seen too easily...kinda all hunkered down in the grass. Time for bed, gotta get to Adelaide tomorrow.
